Eidyn, the old name for Edinburgh, is also the name of the new Edinburgh independent hospitality group featuring a boutique hotel, restaurants, bars, events space, and craft beer and artisan gin production.
So what’s on this month…
As Mayday, the ancient spring festival, marks the start of the month of May, Edinburgh once again doesn’t disappoint when it comes to modern festivals. 11th to 19th May sees not only the Edinburgh Yoga Festival but also the return of the International Magic Festival. A not to miss highlight is the World Wizard Gathering at Roxy Assembly on the first weekend.
If you are not a Harry or Hermione and haven’t managed to bag a ticket for the now sold out Scottish Gin Festival at the Caves then maybe Horror Con at EICC on 12th May is your thing.
Later in the month also sees the popular Hidden Door Festival returns to the Old Leith Theatre and for the more energetic there is also the Edinburgh Marathon Festival (https://www.edinburghmarathon.com) feature 5K, 10K, half and full marathons.
The Broadway hit musical Wicked starts a four week run at the Edinburgh Playhouse this month, and just across the road at Picardy Place, there is a big mystery brewing. The statue of Sherlock homes outside STEAK Edinburgh that marks the birthplace of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has been moved and nobody knows where it’s new home will be. The reason is the Tram works but despite the groundworks and fencing STEAK Restaurant, STEAK Brasserie and Beer & Skittles Bar are still open as usual for pre-theatre dinner or after show drinks.
